Chamber Music Course
1st to 4th July 2010
The Four Day DYO Summer Course at Aravon is designed for string players with some experience in orchestra and chamber music and also for those who are completely new to ensemble playing. All players should have at least a basic understanding of reading music.

ARAVON
Aravon School overlooks Dublin Bay and Bray Head. It provides an idyllic, secluded setting, and full use of the grounds is made during the course for outdoor activities.
TUITION
Players will:
- Explore a rich and varied repertoire of chamber music
- Develop musical skills
- Have the opportunity to play in a full string orchestra
- Perform in nightly informal concerts and in the end-of –course concert.

TUTORS

DAILY ROUTINE
The day starts with a dip in the pool (optional) and breakfast.
From 9am to 4.30pm students will participate in chamber music tuition, orchestra groups and other workshops, with a break for lunch and a swim.
This is followed by sports activities, dinner, free time and an evening concert at 8pm. Non-residents are free to go home at 9pm.
All meals are provided.

EXTRA ACTIVITIES
Extra activities include swimming, rounders, Unihoc, orienteering, football, tennis, samba drumming, drama and the annual “Aravon’s Got Talent” show!
SUPERVISION
Adult members of staff are in residence at all times. Sports staff are in attendance at each of the three daily swim sessions.

Dublin Youth Orchestras is a not-for-profit organisation supported by annual subscription of the player members.
Costs are kept down by the use of voluntary help. Offers of help from parents during the course are crucial.
FEES
- Residential €335
- Non-residential €285
- €50 reduction for each subsequent member of one family on the course
- €15 family membership to the DYO Association if not already a member.

A limited number of scholarships/subsidies are available. Please call or email for further information.
ACCOMMODATION
Residential places are limited. The places are allocated at the discretion of the committee. DYO reserves the right of admission to the courses.
