Chamber Music Course for String Quartets - 26th June to 1st July
This course
caters for the needs of experienced chamber music players at intermediate and senior levels.- Explore a rich and varied repertoire of chamber music.
- Opportunity to play in various string ensembles including cello and viola groups and full string orchestra
- Perform in nightly informal concerts and in the end of course concert.
- Senior players are encouraged to apply as a quartet and to pre-select the works they wish to study.
Tutors: Bernie Balfe, Mia Cooper, Richard Groocock, Orla Mhic Athlaoich, Una O'Kane, Ken Rice, Vanessa Sweeney, Philip Thomas.
This year we are pleased to welcome Mia Cooper as our guest tutor. Mia is the leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra. As a soloist Mia has performed much of the Baroque and Classical violin repertoire and has recorded a wide variety chamber music. Mia teaches violin at the Royai Irish Academy of Music and is visiting tutor in chamber music at the Royal Northern College of Music.
All groups will spend some time with Mia and will benefit from her considerable chamber music experience.
The popular extra activities programme for this summer course will include cello or viola groups, samba drumming, quiz sessions, swimming, tennis, rounders, unihoc, orienteering, etc.
Aravon School overlooks Dublin Bay and Bray Head. It provides an idyllic and convenient setting and full use of the beautiful grounds is made during the course for outdoor activities.
