Organisation
The Dublin Youth Orchestras Association is a not-for-profit organisation managed by a council of elected members. From this council various teams are formed to attend to the many tasks that it takes to run four orchestras and close to 400 players.
The council is elected at the annual general meeting held in January every year. Parents and players over 16 are eligible to attend and vote at the AGM.
- Each orchestra is managed by a small group of parents. They set up the rehearsals, distribute the music, organise the tours with the tour organiser and maintain attendance rolls.
- A catering group provides the energy necessary for the players to perform at rehearsals and concerts. They also look after the adults during long rehearsal days.
- A large number of parents give their expertise in various activities: PR, library, web, photography, bookkeeping, logistics, outreach, child protection.
- An executive committee consisting of the Administrator, Office Administrator, Treasurer and the four orchestra managers carry out the day-to-day management of the orchestras.
This voluntary commitment by parents is a vital part of the organisation of the orchestras and all parents are warmly invited to volunteer.
