Strings Tours and Outreach
In 2008, the Orchestra visited St. Agnes’s Primary School, Crumlin, where we were warmly received by pupils and staff. It was a very worthwhile and enjoyable day both for the pupils and staff at St. Agnes’s and for the Junior Orchestra.
The Junior Strings visited Saint Canice's Primary School in Kilkenny in 2007 and received great appreciation for their performance under Vanessa's baton. Later, a joint concert with the children from their orchestra raised €1300.00 for the Beslan fund.
In 2006, the orchestra had a very succesful tour to Tullamore where they were received with great enthusiasm by Saint Joseph's school.

In 2004 the Junior Strings visited St Louis Junior School, Rathmines on 12th March and on 23rd and 24th April travelled to Galway, Kinvara and the Ailwee Cave with a concert for the pupils of Scoil Íde.
In 2002 they returned to Sligo for a concert with the Sligo School of music and then travelled on to Donegal for a concert with the Junior section of the Donegal Youth Orchestra. Various beaches and swimming pools were visited along the way!
The Junior Orchestra performed in the premiere of the new John Buckley work, “Quattuor”, for four orchestras, in the DYO Millennium Celebration Concert on Sunday, 9th April 2000. The same year they travelled to Sligo to perform for the pupils of the emerging Sligo School of Music.
