Behind the scenes on rehearsal days is a hive of activity. We need busy bees to help out in a very sociable and friendly atmosphere.
There are two levels of catering. Firstly, providing drink and biscuits for the members of the orchestras. This entails setting out plastic cups of juice and trays of biscuits in the HEC room for break time and clearing up afterwards.
The second level involves setting out a snack table in the second HEC room for the conductors, tutors and managers, including yourselves, and making tea and coffee. Real cups and real cutlery are the order of the day. Occasonally lunch is provided if conductors and tutors are working for the full day. The menu is at the caterer's discretion. There are cookers and microwaves in the HEC rooms.
Catering is accomplished within the rehearsal times and all the work is done in time to leave immediately after rehearsal. DYO has an account with Musgraves Cash & Carry where dry goods are purchased as required and stored in the catering press.
