Senior Chamber Music Course for Strings, Guitars and Wind Ensemble

Sunday, 24th June to Friday, 29th June 2012

The DYO Senior Chamber Music Course at Aravon School is designed to develop the chamber music and performance skills of secondary school-age musicians.

Strings

String players at intermediate to senior levels will have the opportunity to explore a rich and varied repertoire of chamber and orchestral music. Each string quartet is coached by a dedicated expert tutor for the duration of the course. All quartets will also take part in a 'masterclass' with our guest tutor. In previous years we have been very lucky to welcome Michael d'Arcy (international soloist and Professor of Violin at the Royal Irish Academy of Music) and Mia Cooper (leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra).

Wind and Brass

The wind ensemble course provides an exciting opportunity for wind and brass players to experience a full repertoire of classical, jazz, swing and blues music. In addition to the full wind ensemble, players will also have the chance to play in smaller wind groups under the expert eye of our Wind Director. In 2011, our director of the wind course was James Cavanagh, founder of the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble and Professor of Trumpet at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

Full details about the 2012 courses will be announced shortly. For all enquiries about summer courses please contact Lisa Scanlan on 01 276 0006 or email courses@dyo.ie
